Alumni Update- Mikhail Astakhov

Following up with the 1998 birth year Russian forward Mikhail Astakhov.  Mikhail was a standout player on two New England Wolves playoff teams (2014-15 MJHL & 2015-16 EHL Elite), including scoring a very memorable shootout goal versus the NH Jr Monarchs on the first Wolves game ever played in the Merrill Fay Arena (Wolves won 6-5).

Mikhail, or Little Misha as he was called, is a native of Moscow, Russia and lived in Laconia during his two seasons with the Wolves with two amazing host families, the Tuckers and the Rickers.  Coming to the US as a 16 year old, Misha quickly adapted to his new surroundings in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and became a fan favorite for not only his skill, but also his effort and hard working mentality.

In his two seasons, in a Wolves uniform, he recorded 27 regular season points, as well as a memorable 5 points in 3 games in the 2015-16 playoffs.

Following his Wolves experience, Misha went on to play several seasons in the MSHL (or Moscow Student Hockey League), the Russian equivalent of College Hockey.  Playing for HK Malakhovka, Misha studied Physical Education, which he is using today in his post- playing career.

Currently working at, BeLikePro (https://belikepro-tech.ru/),  Astakhov said, "We’ve got small ice rink 20x10 meters, workout zone, shooting zone, stick handling zone and hockey treadmill. So I’ve got kids from different teams, and different ages. Also I’ve got some adults, who plays in Beer Leage, some of them just started to play hockey, some of them never skated before."

"Coaching kids and the amateurs individually and small groups, have learned a lot of interesting things as a coach! But don't want to stop on this level, really want to move forward, develop myself and help young hockey players become better, help with the little steps to success." commented Astakhov.

The Wolves wish Misha Astakhov and his family back in Russia continued success!  Good Luck Misha and GO WOLVES!!
