Announcing the Max Effort Award

By Staff Reports 08/23/2024, 5:15am EDT

With the expansion into Youth Hockey in the 2024-25 season, the New England Wolves are pleased to announce the Max Effort Award.

Rarely do you find a person more deserving of recognition than Max Gagnon.  Max Gagnon is a Laconia native, who since the 2016-17 school year has battled, fought, and persevered through incredible challenges.  Diagnosed with HighRisk Leukemia ALL type- B, Max and his family have tackled these incredible challenges head-on, fighting and overcoming intense treatments, interruptions, and hospitalizations, all the while with a smiling face, no quit mindset, and enduring sense of humor.

Max Strong, has become a common rallying manta seen throughout Laconia and the Lakes Region on many businesses , front lawns and school signs.

With this in mind, the Wolves want to encourage all of our athletes to approach their seasons, and their lives, with the same attitude as Max.  To channel Max Gagnon.  How our athletes can do this has 4 main components:

* Be a Good Teammate

* Smile and Exude Positivity

* Be Coachable- Listen and Try new things

* To Give Extra Effort, going beyond the normal circumstances, and persevering through all challenges with a no-quit attitude

Each season, starting this year, upon the conclusion of the regular season in February, will have one special player awarded this honor.  That person, chosen by the Wolves Coaching Staff, will have their name engraved on the Max Effort Plaque at the Merrill Fay Arena, receive a Special Wolves apparel package, and appear in the local paper.  His or her efforts will inspire his teammates and friends, just as Max Gagnon has done for so many in the Lakes Region Community.

Stay tuned as our first recipient will be awarded in February 2025.
