JBT Game Sets New Donation High!

By Incredible Night in Laconia 01/12/2025, 7:15am EST

Wolves Annual JBT Game raises an incredible $62,000.00 for the Cure Starts Now

Laconia, NH.  The New England Wolves 10th annual JBT Game set new highs at this years event, raising over 62 thousand dollars for the Cure Starts Now to combat childhood cancers.

The Annual Game, held each winter since the 2015-16 season, pits two Eastern Hockey League teams against one another and raises money through the shooters involved in their shootout competition between periods.  This year had 10 shooters, and local resident Brycen Martin raised an all time individual high of over 13 thousand dollars for the cause.  Former Jr player and Interlakes High School star Tim Casey emerged victorious in the shootout, winning this years competition in the finals versus local favorite Chad Baron.  This years fundraising amount, combined with the previous years, pushed the fundraising total for the game over the $300,000.00 dollar mark.

All of the proceeds of the fundraising goes to the Cure Starts Now charity which provides research funding in an effort to find a home run cure for cancer.  John Bradley Thompson, whom the game is named after, battled DIPG, a rare and inoperable form of cancer.  The Wolves hold the game each season in his honor.

“We would like to thank all of our shooters for the miraculous job of fundraising they did this winter.  Also to the Boston Dukes, Cure Starts Now, our fans, and especially the Thompson Family, who with their blessing we hold this annual game for.” said Wolves GM Andrew Trimble.

The Wolves won 7-3 over the Boston Dukes in the EHL game.  They were paced by Harrison Kramer’s two goal night and a stellar performance in nets from Latvian Lukas Bukatovs.  This win marks the EHL teams 7th consecutive win.
