SUNY- Fredonia, SNHU, UMass- Dartmouth, and UMass- Boston met in Hooksett, NH the days following Thanksgiving for the annual PAL/ Stovepipe tournament and some former Wolves EHL players shined!
In nets for SNHU, Kurt Gutting (Wolves EHL 2014-16 & Current Wolves Goalie Coach/ Mentor) stole the show. He made 50+ saves and backstopped the Penman to an upset over No. 7 ranked UMass- Boston in round 1 and then preserved the tie in the final game against SUNY- Fredonia on Sunday.
Taking the MVP honors, however, was another former Wolves EHL product. Former Wolves Captain Ryan Dunn of SUNY- Fredonia potted two goals and an assist (as well as recording 6 shots) over the course of the two days, and provided consistent offense for the Blue Devils as they shared the PAL/ Stovepipe trophy with SNHU.
"Winning the Manchester PAL/ Stovepipe was awesome and to get MVP was a cool feeling in front of my family." said Dunn. " But at the end of the day it took everyone on the team to spark the comeback Saturday vs UMass- Dartmouth. Coming from behind is hard especially 3-0. Then Sunday trying to get the puck past Gutting wasnt easy. If I had a say I think he was the MVP of the tournament." Dunn continued, " He really closed the door."
The Wolves organization wishes all of our Wolves Alumni & Former Players who participated in the tournament the best of luck, including:
