Fitchburg State NCAA Commit and 2017-18 Wolves EHL Netminder, Chris Mattone, is currently in Florida attending the NHL Panthers 2018 Development Camp.

Mattone recieved the call Saturday night after the draft and scrambled to get a flight for Monday morning.  Mattone has been in touch with the GM for the Panthers AHL Affiliate team for a couple years, having seen him through video and in person. In a combination of great timing and hard work, Mattone will be spending Tuesday through Friday of this week with the Panthers staff and top prospects running through daily, instruction, workouts, seminars and more.

Among the top prospects set to attend the camp include Panthers first-round choices Grigori Denisenko (2018) and Owen Tippett (2017). Moreover,, prospects including Jonathan AngMax GildonSam Montembeault and Florida's 2018 draft picks Serron NoelLogan HutskoJustin SchutzCole Krygier and Santtu Kinnunen are participating.

”Chris bought into the process of playing and developing (having developed at the EHLP level for almost 2 seasons), and maturing one step at a time.”  GM Andrew Trimble commented.  “His technical ability is sound, but more importantly his Battle mentality is off the charts.  He gave our playoff team last year a chance to win every night and that intangible will carry him far.  We are very proud of Chris’ accomplishment.”
