Kunes to take over EHL & Guerin to coach new u14

The New England Wolves Hockey program, coming off one of their most successful seasons in franchise history, is pleased to announce coaching and management changes for the 2018-19 season.

In a season that saw both the EHL & EHLP qualify for playoff berths at both levels (only the 2nd time in the programs history they have accomplished this), and the EHL team set a franchise record for League wins in a season, the Wolves are pleased to promote Tim Kunes to EHL Head Coach.  Coach Kunes, in his first full season of coaching, guided the EHLP Wolves to a 4th consecutive playoff berth and advanced his team into the second round of the EHLP playoffs.  The Boston College graduate and 2007 NCAA National Champion, was integral to the development of the program's defenseman, coaching the Wolves D's to 3 "Defenseman of the Week" honors at both the EHL & EHLP levels, including a "Defenseman of the Month" award winner at the EHL level.  Moreover, he was critical in the development of the leagues youngest player, 2001 Birth Year Defenseman- Declan House, who appeared in over 45 EHL games and recorded 24 points.

Additionally, he was integral in the implementation of the Wolves "Den of Development" Model; the Wolves practice and organizational philosophy that has each of it's Junior teams on the ice twice each day (sandwiched between video review sessions, Peak Performance Counseling Sessions, and Workouts each day).

New to the Staff are Coaches Connor Bates and John Guerin.  Coach Bates joined the program in January, after the conclusion of his pro hockey career, and will Assist the EHL Junior teams next season, in addition to coaching one of the two Split Season Midget teams next Fall in a Head Coaching role.  John Guerin, a long- time youth coach who has seen all his teams excel from Mite to Bantam, will take on the expansion U14 Wolves program.  John, has been critical in the development of hundreds of players within the Lakes Region Lakers youth hockey program, and helped one of the smallest programs in the state of NH, win state titles at the Tier II level in each of the last 3 seasons.

Mike Potenza will return as Split- Season Midget Head Coach (tryouts this Thursday at 715pm).

Andrew Trimble will slide over as GM, and take on the Management duties for all teams within the program, in addition to coaching the newly formed U19AAA team (replacing the EHLP).

"Coach Kunes has proven that he is a very thorough, team-first coach, who can get the most out of his players.  His EHL team next season has the chance to have a very special season." Commented GM Andrew Trimble.  " I am very proud of the staff we have assembled here in Laconia, as each of our coaches has proven they can coach and connect with Mites through Junior.  These changes allow our coaches to play to their personal strengths and continue to build off our success last season.
