Backyard Rinks & Surrounding Lakes Frozen!

With a more typical New England winter being recorded this winter, and temperatures hovering consistently below freezing, Wolves players have had the unique opportunity to skate outdoors this winter.

"Two of our Billet Families, the Blouin's and the Mull's, have backyard rinks, and our boys have reported back to me on some great games they have played against their younger billet brothers and sisters." said GM/ Head Coach Andrew Trimble.  "Even Coach Kunes has a backyard rink that he built this year!"  Trimble continued, "Andre Gulbrandsen & Roger Powers live at the Mulls and Noah Morning lives with the Blouins... I am very proud that our players can be so involved and integrate with families so easily."

In addition to the backyard rinks and knee hockey games that can be typical in host families and billet homes, the Wolves unique geographic location makes outdoor hockey very available.

Lakes Winnipesaukee is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the US, and is surrounded by Lakes Winnisquam, Lake Opechee, and Newfound Lake.  Each winter the Wolves program volunteers with the New England Pond Hockey Classic, held on Meredith Bay. The Wolves also have a rental agreement with Lakeside Cottages on Lake Winnisquam.  Here they have 5 units of players who live on their own, and are within a short walking distance to natural ice.

"Sometimes I get worried that they are on the ice too much, and might get injured or be tiring themselves out for their EHL games.  In the end, though, I never tell them to stop maximizing this icetime, as it makes for great team-building and memories." said Trimble.
