Laconia, NH.  Sept. 17, 2017.  The New England Wolves EHL Junior Hockey team recorded their first win of the season on Home Ice Sunday afternoon, by posting a 3-2 victory over the visiting TA Seahawks of Cape Cod, MA.   The game was the first played at Merrill Fay Arena for the EHL Wolves for the 2017-18 season.

The game started off slow for the Wolves, as the Seahawks scored first and the Wolves battled through some penalty issues.  The first intermission proved critical, however, as the Wolves were able to regroup and come out fast for the second period.  Adam Barnes, an English born Forward who represented Great Britain at the World Junior Championships a year ago, notched the first Wolves goal only 12 seconds into the 2nd period.  Andre Gulbrandsen followed up Adam’s goal with a goal of his own the next shift, before Alpharetta, Georgia native Bubba MacDonald recorded his first of the season a few minutes after that to make it 3-1.

The 3rd period was a back and forth affair, as the Seahawks would make it close on a 5 on 3 Power Play goal, but the goaltending of the Wolves proved to be the difference.  Chris Mattone, a 1997 born netminder from New Windsor, NY sealed the deal in nets for the home team.

“It’s great to get the first win on home ice.  The boys responded to adversity and pulled together.” Said Head Coach Andrew Trimble.

The Wolves return to action with both their EHL and EHLP teams on home ice next Friday night (4pm for EHLP & 7pm for EHL).  For more info visit- www.americanhockeyinstitute.com
