Pittsburgh, PA -  Duquesne Hockey Head Coach Conrad Waite has announced another commitment for the 2017-18 recruiting class: Defensemen Dylan Grierson. Grierson, played for the EHL u19 Elite New England Wolves in 2016-17, and scored 4 goals and 18 assists in 35 games. He also was called up to the New England Wolves Premier team during the year. He is the second player from the Wolves to commit to play for Duquesne next season.

"We made it a primary focus to bring in some top level defensemen for next year, as soon as we saw Dylan on the ice we knew he could make an impact at Duquesne." Waite said "He's a little younger than most players coming out of Juniors, but we feel like that's an advantage, as he still has a lot of room to grow. With his experience and talent, I expect him to be a leader on and off the ice during his time here."

Grierson, who describes himself as a "two-way defenseman" that focuses on "moving the puck out of the defensive zone quickly [before using] my speed to jump into the rush offensively" joins a team looking to replace 3 graduating Senior defensemen. In addition to playing for the New England Wolves last season, he played 4 years of Varsity hockey for Perkiomen Valley High.

"I am hoping that Dylan, along with all of our incoming players, can take on a big role next year. There are still two and a half months left before we hit the ice again, but we had conversations after the season with all of our returning players about increasing competition in the lineup and competitiveness on the ice. If we want to take the next step forward as a program, that will be an integral part of it." Waite said.

The Dukes first games of the 2017-18 season will be the weekend of September 15-16th.
