Laconia, NH.  The New England Wolves JR Hockey program, undergoing some major changes for 2017-18, will have a drastically different roster next season with an emphasis on players from the Northern Midwest US.

Owned by New England Prep legend Steve Jacobs, the New England Wolves EHL JR program, who’s home rink is undergoing a $100,000.00 improvement to their refrigeration and ice quality system (Merrill Fay Arena), has brought in a new coaching staff and placing an emphasis on acquiring players from outside New Hampshire. “What we’ve found in the last few years is a needed emphasis on character and toughness in our lineup.  Kids from the Mid-West traditionally bring a different element to your lineup." Said Wolves EHL Head Coach Andrew Trimble.  “Additionally, our area is a New England vacation hot spot, so we are looking to bring in kids who really appreciate the mountains, lakes and beauty of greater Laconia.”

Some of the players the Wolves EHL have acquired to date include goaltender Brendan Boncore of Michigan, who grew up playing in the Oakland JR Grizzlies program and was the EHL U19 goaltender of the year last season, as well as Forward Anthony Thurston of Rochester, NY.  Jake Drucker, a NY born Forward was brought in to provide energy and toughness.  He played last season in the GOJHL for the Buffalo Regals.

For Coach Tim Kunes’ EHL Premier team, the Wolves have acquired Prestyn Hoefler and Tommy Kilway, both of Ohio. Both Forwards will be counted on to bring two-way ability and a great work ethic to their lineup.

The New England Wolves JR program is one of the most unique programs in all of the Eastern Hockey League, in that it is located in a somewhat rural, vacation area (Lakes Region of NH), and does not include Youth Hockey as part of their program.  “All of our kids are looked up to by the kids in the community, and we attract fans to many of our promotional or rivalry games.” Commented Andrew Trimble, the former SUNY- Buffalo State Bengal.  “It makes for a great atmosphere where these kids are coming from all over the world to play in front of our fans and the many colleges that are right around us.”
