Tim is a native of Huntington, NY who just completed 8 years of playing professionally.  In 2005 he was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes (5th Rd, 145th overall) and went on to attend Boston College on a 4- year athletic scholarship, where he won an NCAA Championship in 2008.

Upon graduating from BC, he signed as a free agent with the Trenton Devils where he was named Trenton Devils Defenseman of the Year.  Following his stint in the ECHL, Tim made the jump to Europe.  Tim has played in the German, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish professional leagues.  During his time in Europe Tim has 3 times been named a First- Team All- Star and won (2) Norwegian Championships with the Stavanger Oilers.

During Tim’s playing career he has had the opportunity to be coached by some very well renowned junior, college and pro coaches including Jerry York and Greg Brown of Boston College, Gary Dineen and Lincoln Flagg of the New England Junior Falcons and Petter Thoresen , Head Coach of the Norwegian National Team which over time inspired him to begin his coaching career.

He spent many summers coaching at the Aleksey Nikiforov Hockey Camp on Long Island.  This past year (2016-17) he has worked with the Stavanger Oilers U20 team as a volunteer coach and at the Stavanger Oilers Junior Academy as a coach.

Tim is a dedicated and disciplined coach who will always lead by example.  He is training focused with high expectations and will work with each player individually on and off the ice to help them reach their highest potential.

"The Wolves organization is extremely pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Tim Kunes.  Tim has an outstanding hockey pedigree, having played at some of the highest levels of hockey in the world for some of the absolute best coaches.  What separates Tim, however, is Tim's personality.  Tim is a good communicator, is patient, and will be a great role model for the players in our program.  He is a home run."- Wolves Premier Head Coach Andrew Trimble
