Laconia, NH. March 4, 2017. The New England Wolves hosted the visiting Vermont Lumberjacks in the 2nd Annual JBT Benefit Game at the Merrill Fay Arena on Saturday night.

With nearly 500 fans in attendance both teams compete for 60 minutes in a fast-paced EHL Premier contest.  The real winner, however, was the community and the Cure Starts Now foundation, as this years game raised almost 4 times as much as last years in search of a "Homerun Cure" for DIPG, the Cancer that afflicted John Bradley Thompson whom the game is named after.

The biggest contributor in fundraising this year was the introduction of the "Not so Mini One on One", a breakaway contest that occurred between periods of the contest and pitted 10 local fundraisers against goaltender Martin Kresac.   3 shooters scored in the first intermission to reach the finals, Michal Bodnar, Chris DiGangi, and Kelly Przekaza.  Bodnar, the former Plymouth State standout Hockey Player won the shootout with a nifty between the legs shot.

With many other drawings, prizes, donations and give-aways, the event successfully raised over $15,000.00.  "It was a great night and a ton of fun.  It benefits a great cause, and that is really important to this community." Said Organizer Jesse Thompson.

The Home Game was the final home game of the season for the EHL Premier Wolves.  For more info on the program go to- www.americanhockeyinstitute.com.  For more info on the foundation go to- https://thecurestartsnow.org/
