LACONIA -- The New England Wolves Junior Hockey Program, featuring EHL Premier and U19 Elite teams, opened up their 2016-17 training camp the week of August 29th through Sept. 3rd.

The Wolves teams are comprised of select Hockey players chosen from all over the world to compete in the Eastern Hockey League. Each player leaves their home and spends a year living and training in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. This year’s players hail from as far as Sweden, Quebec, Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Arizona, Ontario, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Wisconsin, three from Moscow, Russia and all over New England, competing on this year’s roster and looking to be scouted to the NCAA level.

The Wolves and Team Life Coach Emily Clement, devoted four hours of cleanup to the WOW trail in Laconia, in an effort to beautify and maintain this unique attraction in the Lakeport Section of Laconia on Sept. 2.

“Emily does a tremendous job of integrating the community with our hockey program. Kids gain an understanding of giving back, and that this experience is more than just about hockey,” Wolves U19 Elite Head Coach Andrew Trimble said. “This place is our home and we love for these kids to learn to love it too.”

On the following morning, the Wolves program welcomed in a Marine Corp unit from Dover. Five US Marines took the nearly 50 player roster through a seminar on Leadership, followed by a Marine Bootcamp.

The bootcamp was a grueling hour long relay that featured hundreds of chin-ups, planks, squats, fireman- carries, tires, and much more.

“These guys really motivate you,” said Bryce Ricker, a Laconia native and three-year player for the Wolves. “They pushed us as a team to work together and go beyond what we thought we could accomplish.”

The Wolves U16 and U18 split season teams open play next weekend (September 10 and 11) with home games at Merrill Fay Arena in Laconia (468 Province Road). The U20 EHL Premier team opens on September 17 at home in Laconia against the Boston JR Rangersat 7:30 p.m. The EHL U19 Elite team opens the following weekend versus the Valley JR Warriors on September 25 at 2:15 p.m.
