Wolves’ left wing Evan Ferraro scored his third goal of the game at 17:40 of the third period to give the Wolves a hard earned win Sunday afternoon in Waterville Valley.  Ferraro was the offensive hero in this one scoring three goals while Ryan Tierney and Alex Sauer each added a goal.  Garret Mello was strong once again in net stopping 34, which included a sensational two pad stack stop to keep the score tied mid-way through the final stanza.

The win avenged a tough 3-1 loss on Saturday in the first game of the 2 game home set.  The Wolves drew first blood in this one when Ferraro knocked a Walpole clearing pass down out of mid-air and raced to the top of the left circle before firing a “quick release” hard snap shot past the surprised Walpole netminder.  Ryan Tierney made it 2-0 on the power play at 10:39 when he completed a nice passing play with Andrew Lee and Zach Sullivan.  The talented Walpole team fought back and made it 2-1 with a power play goal of their own at 12:43 on a Kyle Moss wrister through a screen.  The goal gave energy to the Express and they would tie it up at two just before the intermission on another screen shot.

Walpole took their first lead of the game at 6:55 of the second period on a hard wrist shot off the stick of Eric Lipa but Ferraro drew the Wolves even with his second of the game drilling home a nice goal mouth feed from Joe Flanagan at 15:55.  The two teams battled hard to the end of the period with many big hits and chances at both ends before ending the period 2-2.

Walpole took the lead once again on a Per Neuberger goal at 5:51 on a power play slap shot off a Wolves defender but the Wolves Alex Sauer had an answer just over a minute later on the power play at 7:21 when he scored from the doorstep after heavy Wolves pressure. Nick Chaoush and Max Kent notched assists on the goal.  The Express applied pressure over the next several minutes but Mello was equal to the task stopping 20 shots in the third period which set the stage for the Ferraro game winner and hat-trick.  On the play Chris Peters took a feed from Max Kent and found Ferraro alone in front.  Ferraro made no mistake rifling home a hard wrist shot.  The Express employed the extra skater for the last minute of the game providing some anxious moments for the home team but solid checking secured the 5-4 win.
