In a high octane game with three different lead changes the surging New England Wolves Independent team emerged victorious with a 5-3 win over the Middlesex Black Bears Friday afternoon at Waterville Valley Ice Arena. The Wolves Tyler Watungwa led the way with a third period natural hat-trick, as well as adding an assist on the second goal of the game.  The Wolves opened the scoring with a rocket by Salem, MA native Jeffery Scimone just minutes into the game with the assists going to Kenny Burkhardt and second year veteran Derek Boucher.  The game was tied until Purchase, NY native Evan Ferraro fired in a laser from the point on an offensive zone face off win by Ottawa, Ontario’s very own Tyler Watungwa.  The action got red hot as the Wolves were down 3-2 going into the third period. New England Wolves power forward Tyler Watungwa would score the game tying goal as well as the game winner. The icing on the cake came with just seconds left in the game when Watungwa forced a turnover in the neutral zone and plugged in the empty netter.  The Wolves were dominate in the faceoff circle all night led by both Watungwa  who was 8 for 10 and Weymouth, MA junior Shea Flanagan who went 9 of 14.  The Wolves were led in net by Montreal, Quebec native, Louis-Felix St. Jean who stopped 26 of 29 shots.  When asked about his thoughts on the game, head coach Mykul Haun expressed;

"The boys worked hard and did all of the small things well.”  Coach Haun also added, “it was great to see our team come together and earn a 'team' win.”

This weeks slate for the Independent team includes a trip north of the boarder to Terrebonne Quebec for back to back games January 28th and 29th versus rival Ulysse Prep.
