The New England Wolves EHL Elite team, the sole Junior Hockey program playing out of the Laconia Ice Arena, opened training camp on August 31st and completed their busy first week of camp on Saturday September 5th.

The expanded program for the 2015-16 season has the EHL Elite JR team, comprised of 16-20 year old players from all over the globe participating, and a developmental U16 program that features some of the best 15 and 16 year old players in the state of New Hampshire.

Both teams had an event filled first week as ice was being put in at the Laconia Ice Arena.  These events included a hike up Lockes Hill in Gilford, dryland strength and conditioning training at the Laconia Ice Arena facility on Province Road in Laconia, Gym Orientation at the Heavy Metal Gym at the Paugus Bay Plaza in Laconia, volunteering to clean the WoW Trail in Laconia, and a Goal Setting Seminar by local Life Coach, Emily Clement (www.emilyclementlifecoach.com).   “In addition to our kids settling in with their host families in the Lakes Region and attending their classes at Lakes Region Community College, our kids really jelled and started to show real signs of becoming a unit.” Said GM/ Head Coach Andrew Trimble.

Saturday, a Marine Corps unit from Dover, New Hampshire, led by Sergeant’s Sin, Utz and Magee, took the team through a leadership seminar and a Marine Corp-style training exercise.  Emphasizing teamwork, loyalty and perseverance, the workout included artillery boxes, fireman carries and relay races over the course of a full 90 minutes.  “ I was really impressed by our teams dedication and the emergence of several leaders.” Said Asst. Coach Mike Potenza, the organizer of the event.  “ A big thanks to the Marines for coming out and teaching these boys a thing or two!”

The Wolves continue their training camp on-ice this next week at the Arena.  Practices are at 1:30pm and open to the public.  The Wolves will begin their regular season schedule at home versus the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs on Sept. 25th at 7pm at Laconia Ice Arena.  The U16’s home opener will be the following night at 7pm verses Keene.
