The MJHL New England Wolves, the new Junior Hockey team playing out of the Laconia Ice Arena, scored a decisive, divisional victory over the Valley JR Warriors 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Laconia Ice Arena.  The win moved the Wolves ahead of the Warriors in the standings of the MJHL’s Francis Division.

Again pacing the scoring on Sunday afternoon was the line of Dillon Smith (Madison, NH), Domenico Senerchia (Walpole, NH) and Ben Davidson (Longueiul, Quebec), with a combined 5 points.  In nets stopping 20 of 23 shots was Harley Eliason (Glasgow, MT).

The teams traded goals until late in the 2nd period when Valley scored a critical goal with less than 5 seconds to go.  The Wolves, however, responded in the 3rd period.  Controlling most of the play and outshooting Valley by a 2 to 1 margin, the Wolves tied the score at the 8:11 mark as  Gorham, Maine’s Shawn Sullivan scored a power play goal with a snap shot from the high slot.  Less than 4 minutes later the Senerchia/ Smith/ Davidson line would answer the bell once more, scoring the decisive 4th goal.

The MJHL New England Wolves return to action next weekend for 2 games in 2 days, as they take to the road on Saturday to play the Connecticut Nighthawks and Sunday return to the Laconia Ice Arena to play the Northern Cyclones.

Madison, New Hampshire’s Dillon Smith was awarded Honorable Mention Player of the Week by the MJHL last week.  Dillon is a 1995 birth year forward, and the 2014-15 captain of the team.
