WOLVES 3, BOSTON BANDITS 1

In the Saturday afternoon matinee at the Bridgewater Ice Arena the Wolves used tenacious defense, and strong special teams and goaltending to earn the win.  Eric Bogart made 28 saves and the penalty killing unit  killed 9 of 9 Boston power plays, while the Wolves  power play scored on 2 of 3 opportunities in the best special teams outing of the year.  Christian La Croix gave the Wolves the early 1-0 lead on the power play when Nick Marin sprinted up the wall and slid a pass to La Croix who was streaking over the blue line.  La Croix ripped a hard snap shot home from the slot at 12:59.   Sean O’Brien made it 2-0 just 4 minutes later on the power play when he rifled a hard rising slapper home with assists going to Ryan Dunn and Jarrod Fitzpatrick.  Mike Kelleher made it 3-0 at 6:51 of the third when Ryan Dunn scooped up a puck below the goal line and fed Kelleher in front.  Kelleher made no mistake by putting a quick release whistler past a surprised Boston goaltender.  Bogart was outstanding throughout making many high quality saves but unfortunately had the shut out broken with 11 seconds left in the game while Boston had the extra attacker on.

WOLVES 3, BOSTON JR RANGERS 1

Christian La Croix figured in all 3 goals scoring 2 and adding an assist, and Eric Bogart stopped 34 shots to lead the Wolves to the 2 game weekend sweep Sunday afternoon in Tewksbury.  La Croix continued his hot scoring pace by giving his club the early lead for the second day in a row.  On the goal La Croix took a feed from Nick Marin in the slot and quickly fired it home far side to make it 1-0 at 4:41 of the first.  Ben Perron also assisted on the goal.  Mike Kelleher scored his second of the weekend at 15:12 of the second period to put the visitors up 2-0.  Kelleher fired it into an empty net with the goalie out of position after a highlite reel tic-tac-toe play with line mates Marin and La Croix, who both assisted on the play.  The Jr Rangers didn't sit back and made it 2-1 at 13:08 of the second off a faceoff.  Bogart made several scintillating saves to keep it 2-1 before La Croix made it 3-1 from Ryan Shea and Brian Cameron at 18:29 of the period.  The two teams battled up and down in the third period with Bogart and the Wolves penalty killing units coming up big once again killing 3 penalties over the last  10 minutes of the game.  The Wolves defensemen were outstanding while being short handed with captains Alec Cochran and Sean O’Brien out with injuries.  O’Brien started the game, and was a horse all weekend but went out early in the second with a serious cut which required successful surgery following the game.  Defensemen Ryan Shea, Ben Perron, Jonathan Ellis, Eric Boyda and Cody Weaver were immense throughout.
