The New England Wolves, in their inaugural season in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League, have taken advantage of the vast amount of NCAA hockey-sponsoring colleges at their disposal.

In early September, they had a full rink tour and interview session with Plymouth State University and Hockey Coach Craig Russell. Additionally, PSU’s Goaltending/Assistant Coach Nick Therrien has done video review sessions with Wolves goaltenders Zachery Skop (’96 birth year/Milford, N.J.) and Harley Eliason (’96 birth year/Glasgow, Mont.). “To get the input from a person who has played, and is coaching at the level we aspire to, is HUGE,” Skop said.

Before the Cyclones Arena portion of the MJHL Winter Holiday Showcase, the Wolves partook in a full campus tour of Daniel Webster College (a 2015-16 NCAA Division III program). The team met with enrollment officials, viewed the facilities and interacted with Varsity Coach Eric McCambly.

Additionally, the Wolves as a team have attended NCAA hockey games at Boston University, the University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University.

With the NCAA season heating up, team attendance at future NCAA games is sure to come.

“We want to give these kids the full experience, so that they are prepared as best as we can make them for college,” said Wolves Head Coach Andrew Trimble. “It is a great benefit that we are located close to so many schools that have hockey programs and coaches that are gracious enough to take the time and meet with our boys. We truly appreciate them doing that!”
