The New England Wolves continued their playoff pursuit with a decisive 4-2 win over the Valley JR Warriors this past Sunday.

Sunday’s 4-2 victory was paced by the newly formed forward line of Phillip Schultz (Lunenburg, MA), Jared Wood (Gorham, ME) and Ryan Padden (Fort Peck, MT).  The trio accounted for 3 out of the team’s 4 goals, including two by Padden.  Both Wood and Padden were acquired over the Holiday break to help bolster the team’s offensive depth.  “Schultz is one of the hardest working players on the ice, and his persistence compliments Wood and Padden’s offensive abilities,” said Assistant Coach Mike Potenza.  Wolves netminder Zach Skop stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced in nets.  Defenseman Blake Babineau rounded out the scoring, recording the empty netter with 25 seconds remaining.

The win was the Wolves 18th regulation victory on the season, and with 6 regular season games to go they are firmly in the MJHL playoff picture.

The Wolves return to action next weekend (February 7th & 8th) with games against the New Hampshire JR Monarchs and the Boston Bandits.  The February 7th game against the rival Monarchs, will be the last regular season home game for the Wolves.  So far on the season, all Wolves/ Monarchs games have been decided by 2 goals or less, with the previous Wolves/ Monarchs game played at the Laconia Ice Arena having to be decided by a shootout.  The game is slated for a 2:15pm puck drop.  All fans are encouraged to wear their Lakes Region Lakers home jerseys.  The Broadway North Wolves Dancers will provide intermission entertainment, and all entrants will receive complimentary Wolves Fangs upon entering.
