The New England Wolves will be dedicating the 2022-23 season to Max Gagnon of Laconia, NH.

During the 2016-17 season, Max Gagnon underwent a heroic and successful battle overcoming Leukemia ALL Type- B.  He returned to action, resumed playing sports, and began living a normal life again as a healthy and active youngster.

In August of 2022 as he was about to begin 5th grade in Laconia, Max suffered a relapse as the Leukemia returned.  His mother, Amber reported the full story on Facebook, "

On 7.26.22 we went to the Jimmy Fund for Max’s yearly check in.  Went to cardiology, everything looked great.  Hopped over to the Jimmy for blood work and to check in with his oncology team.  They said he looked amazing!  However, his test results showed low platelet numbers.  We retested, but the number was the same…however everything else looked perfect.  We headed home with instructions to do blood work on 8.9.22.  On the evening of 7.26 max complained that his ear hurt.  So, the next day we took him to his pediatrician and was diagnosed with an ear infection.  I was never so relieved. We did his blood work on 8.9.22 and there really was no difference.  So oncology team told us that when Max goes for his eye exam on 8.26.22 to stop over at the Jimmy fund for more blood work. The blood draw was done and we waited about 20 minutes…The ugly monster was back.  Max was admitted into Children’s immediately, and his IV was placed to start running fluids to get his body ready for chemo.  On Monday he had his picc line put in, bone marrow biopsy and spinal completed.  Confirmation that the leukemia is in his marrow and CNS.  So he received his first dose of intrathecal chemo.  This morning the onc team laid out the next 30-day schedule of chemo treatment.  Based on how Max does during the 30 day treatment period, determines phase two approach.  Sorry to share the shitty news, but Max needs all the prayers you can say!!
Hugs- the Gagnons

To help and support Max Gagnon and the Gagnon Family, the Wolves have dedicated their 2022-23 season to him.  All the teams in the Wolves program (U16, U18, EHLP & EHL) will be wearing "We Fight with Max" stickers on the back lower right side of helmets.  Additionally, the Wolves will hold their annual MAX Holiday Toy Drive in December and have planned for several more events centered around supporting this very special young man.

We are with you in spirit Max!  You got this!!!
