Wolves EHL Sweeps Weekend

Strong start to season

Laconia, NH.  The New England Wolves EHL team swept their opening weekend of the 2019-20 season with stellar victories over in-state rival the Seacoast Spartans.

On Friday night, in front of a good home crowd in Laconia, the Wolves defeated the Spartans 4-0.  DJ Schwenke, Matt Amante, Jack Loran, and John Woernle all scored for the Wolves.  Matt Stephan recorded the shutout in nets.  Schwenke's opening score was the 100th point of his EHL JR career.

The Wolves headed down to Exeter, NH on Saturday night for the completion of the home and home series.  Seacoast played the Wolves very close, tying the score mid-way through the 2nd period, before Matt Amante buried the game winner. In total, Schwenke scored two, Connor Klees scored once, Jack Loran netted two as well as the aforementioned Amante.   Stephan recorded his second win in as many nights.

The Wolves EHLP team took 3 out of a possible 4 points.  Defeated the Valley JR Warriors on home ice on Saturday, before losing to the JR Rangers in overtime on Sunday afternoon.  Herbert Zeibots recorded 5 points in 2 games.

In Youth Hockey news, the Wolves U16 full season team won their first NEPHL game on Saturday, and then recorded their first points of the United Tier 1 Hockey League season against the VT Flames on Sunday.  Dmitry Nahornyi recorded multi points in each of the games.

Mike Potenza's U18 NEPHL team won their opening game of the season 5-1 on Sunday as well.
